<title>So, you want to fly Radio Control? by Chris Riley</title>
<link>http://www.mcrcc.net/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=130</link>
<description>

What do I do? How do I get Started? There are hundreds of questions new people to the wonderfull world of R/C will have.. Most people start out with the wrong equipment, and no idea what they are up against.. Thats what I did..I tried to do it all by myself.. I did manage to buy the right type airplane.. Only because I got lucky.. Most new pilots want to fly that Super fine P-51 Mustang with retracts and Gas engine

So, I get the thing built and I wait 2 weeks For the local flying (Area) to be empty (not a soul) lol. It lasted about 45 seconds and pieces and parts went FLYING everywhere.. It took me about 6 months to get over the Shock or better yet, the embarrasement of realizing I couldnt fly a toy airplane...(Imagine that!) I finally rebuilt the poor plane and swallowed my pride.. I then got some help from the local flying club and their instructor.. After that for me at least it was a piece of cake...Long story Short, I could have done it a lot sooner and a lot cheaper if I would have gotten help to begin with..

So, what makes a (GOOD) trainer plane... Almost everything a beginner sees is labeled (trainer).. Of course everybody has an opinion on what style airplane or heli is best to start with.. Since I am writing this article it will be based on MY opinion..lol... There are LOW wing trainers, MID wing...Tail dragger, What works best for me is a HIGH wing, flat bottom air-foil, trike-gear, at least a (40) size so you can see it and the wind wont bother it too much..(both of which are more important than you realize right now). Ive even trained with electric planes as long as they are large enough..

Our club is in the process of setting up a pc at the field with an R/C flight simulator plus we have a CLUB trainer we can use if you havent purchased your plane yet.. You dont have to be a member to get a trial run, but we will ask you to join after a few visits.. You will be required to have AMA before you can fly on your own..More about that in my next submission...CHRIS RILEY..AMA 332650 V-P MCRCC 228-326-1436

<title>Joshua David Latil</title>
<link>http://www.mcrcc.net/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=128</link>
<description>
It is a boy!

Joshua David Latil was born on May 17th around 2:09 pm, 7 lbs. 6 oz. 19.5 inches long. He is doing great so far! I always thought new borns were a bit on the ugly side the day of birth, but I think Joshua was an exception, truly a beautiful baby boy. Jenny started at 9 am, so it was a quick labor for the first. Jenny was having a tuff time till she had her epidural, and then things were MUCH better. We have been learning a lot the last few days, and have been living on about 2 hours of sleep a day, but it is worth it. Jenny is doing well also, she looked great minutes after birth.

<title>2007 SeaBee days exhibition</title>
<link>http://www.mcrcc.net/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=127</link>
<description>
Chris, David Felder and I (David Latil) headed out to the SeaBee days event today. Chris brought his scale heli, David brought his scale and 90 size raptor, I brought a swift and a microbat.

Turned out they really didn't give us enough room to safely give Chris and David room to do anything but hover. The crowd still enjoyed it. At one point, there were 2 heli's in the air at once, which was abruptly ended when Chris' tail servo failed in mid flight! No damage was done. Chris isn't too happy that he is going to have to strip his scale body off (no small ordeal). David F. also had some trouble with his exhaust.

I helped Chris get the Swift in the air, had a good time with that. Ended up having some issues with that too, but everything came back in one piece, Unlike my microbat (don't ask).

All and all, it was a pretty good time. We'll know what to expect next time. We'll definitely bring some 'do not touch' signs for the heli's, a MCRCC sign, some more chairs, and some more foamies.

Here are some pics:

<title>2007 Spring fly-in</title>
<link>http://www.mcrcc.net/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=125</link>
<description>
The 2007 MCRCC Spring fly-in was held on April 21st. What a turn out! It's been a few years since we have had one, and it was pretty good. My estimate was around 40 pilots and 100 people eating lunch (more official numbers coming soon). Every bay was filled and there were more aircraft than you could count.
Jim F. and Tom H. did a great job getting it organized and worked very hard to make things happen. Tonya, Mario, Ron Johnson, Chris, Ray, Nick, Bobby Kern, Joe at Orange Grove Hobby as well as the rest of the crew deserve a thanks for all their contributions

Click here for the full story and an a thread that Tom Hill and others contributed to detailing the fly-in.

Carl S. aka as RUSTLER on the site sent me some pics of some cars at the track. The track is looking good and is set to have some more upgrades.
All MCRCC members are welcome to use the car track. Non-members must have an AMA license and join the club in a reasonable amount of time.
Click Here to see the rest of Carl's pics. You too can have pics on the site and even post stories. This site is setup so everyone can participate so the site does not become boring when I don't have time to update it. So take an example from Carl and send me stuff, post stories, email me or upload some pics.

<link>http://www.mcrcc.net/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=121</link>
<description>

Good turnout this weekend. We had our monthly meeting. The fly-in was discussed as was some other miscellaneous business. There will be one more meeting before the fly-in. Jim Farned and Tom Hill are heading up the fly-in if there are any questions. The CB exhibition was discussed briefly, a few heli pilots will be asked to perform for the crowd when it is time. The car track is taking shape and is getting quite a following out there now. We have approximately 72 members now, with 2 more joining today.

All the heli guys were out today. Mario had some wild looking German heli. Ray and David F. had their arsenal out also.
Here is a pic sent by Chris. Click here for some other pics. I took

<title>2006 Christmas party</title>
<link>http://www.mcrcc.net/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=118</link>
<description>

We had our 2006 Christmas party at the Saucier Civic Center on 12-10-2006. Started off with the food, the meeting/election, then the raffle. Food was great! Had more then enough food with much left overs (even with Richard O. there). The meeting was short and sweet, all the officers stayed the same with the exception of safety officer, who is now Ray. The raffle was fun, Mario picked up some things from Orange Grove Hobby (who donated a few prizes themselves). Nick didn't win everything this time.
